Cooking in Savannah

We traveled to Savannah, Georgia a few weekends ago and stayed in an elegant historic hotel called the Mansion on Forsyth. As an added happy surprise, I was so excited to find that our hotel offered a cooking class. I was even more overjoyed to find out the one they offered that weekend was the Farmer’s Market class! Our group strolled down to the local farmer’s market to select all of our food for the meal. It was amazing to see the variety of gorgeous, colorful produce. We then went back to the hotel and the talented chef taught us how to prepare each dish. We made organic collard greens (which I especially appreciated because I’ve always loved collard greens and was excited to finally learn how to prepare them), organic roasted brussels sprouts, organic cheesy corn grits, along with grilled wild caught shrimp and grass fed beef fillets. This meal was absolutely amazing, so rich with flavor and we loved supporting local agriculture and farms in Savannah. Here are some pictures from our class.
